Presearch: Earn Crypto For Searching the Internet
Google is now a household name for internet search. It went to an extent where people started using “Googling” as synonym for “Searching”. Google literally killed it’s competitors, like Yahoo, many years ago.
Several companies, including Microsoft, tried to capture the “search engine” market over the years but could barely do any dent in Google’s dominance (see the chart above).
One thing I love about Microsoft Bing is it’s rewards. 90% of the time, Bing good enough for what I need and I earn some rewards with it. As you can see below, I still have 78K points which is more than $75 in Amazon Rewards, which is not a lot but it’s free money. (Bing Rewards is not available everywhere)
Now, there is a new player in the game, with two important characteristics, trying to challenge the giant in its own turf: Presearch
With a promise of Privacy and offering Rewards, Presearch is trying to challenge Google. At the time when big giants like Google are facing anti-trust law suits because of user’s privacy, Presearch is promising complete privacy using Blockchain and de-centralized search, so no Big Brother watching your activity any more.

Presearch has a blockchain-based token named PRE, which is based on Ethereum. You can earn PRE tokens, in two ways mainly:
- Searching
- Running a Presearch Node (You are helping other search users by providing compute)

Running a Presearch Node is currently in Beta. So no rewards for now, but the rewards are expected to go live by end of this month (Feb 2021). I am currently running a node on AWS under free tier, which is the cheapest and safe way for now.
Do not worry about stake in the above screenshot. I will write another post where I will explain about Architecture behind Presearch, Staking, Running Nodes etc.
PRE token is approximately $0.08 with an all time high of $1.40. Project off to a great start in 2018 and then gradually slipped in values. But for the last couple of months there is a significant community involvement with over 600 test Presearch nodes. If the interest continues and if Presearch can make some decent PR, then the value of PRE can raise. So try your luck.
